The Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site protects the archeological remains of four trading posts built between 1799 and 1875. Visitors to the site can learn all about the history of Rocky Mountain House's competitive trading, nine First Nations cultures and explorer David Thompson. Activities include interpretive programs, the David Thompson Puppet Show, interpretive trails, indoor and outdoor exhibits, and the Playfort. The site is located 6 km (4 mi) west of town on Highway 11A.
